RD2BE was founded in 2020 as a passion project, RD2BE is now a program of The Wholesome Village, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, allowing us to reach more students and magnify our impact.

Carl Barnes, MS, RDN, LDN
Founder
Carl is a Registered Dietitian who has always been driven to give back to the future of the dietetics profession. RD2BE was born from years of programs and projects providing value to nutrition students with the hope of empowering, educating, and inspiring RD2BEs.
Jenna Warnock
Managing Director
Jenna is Managing Director of all RD2BE programs and has been with RD2BE since 2021. She is attending Virginia Tech to pursue her MS in Clinical Physiology and Metabolism. Her interests are in research, advocacy, and metabolic disorders. Her favorite projects have included expanding the Mentorship Program, producing the RD2BE Podcast, and connecting with RDs across the country.
Chelsea is the newsletter editor, social media manager, and marketing specialist. She will be graduating from Kansas State University with a BS in Dietetics in Spring 2025 and pursue her RD credential. Her goal is to specialize in endocrinology disorders and diabetes.

Sarah Lederman
Content Developer
Sarah is the podcast editor for RD2BE and is currently attending University of Maryland. Sarah will be graduating in Spring of 2027 with a BS/MS in Dietetics and BS in Psychology. Her goal is to specialize in eating disorders and overall wants to help others achieve better health. She is most involved with editing the RD2BE Podcast, creating, and designing content for Instagram.

Emily Hillig, RDN
Past Mentorship Program Director & Podcast Host, 2020-2022
Emily was the first RD2BE volunteer and pioneered the way for growing the RD2BE team! She contributed as Mentorship Program Director and Podcast Host. Emily completed her dietetic internship at Virginia Tech and received her RD credential in 2023. She currently works as a Food Service Supervisor and is completing an MS in Health Promotion.
Melissa Shaban, NDTR
Past Content Creator, 2023-2024
Melissa is a Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered and graduate student in the University of Houston's MS and distance dietetic internship. She volunteered with RD2BE as content creator for Instagram and Blog as well as Podcast Host featuring NDTRs.
