Finals are in full mode, so here are some tips to help you stay cool under the pressure.
Don’t Procrastinate
Start reviewing materials early beginning with the toughest subject or the soonest exam. This will help you retain more information and give you time to work on the difficult topics.
Prepare and Plan
Find a comfortable, distraction free, well-lit space with everything you need at hand.
Coordinate a small study group. Studying with one or two others can be helpful for comparing notes and quizzing one another, but more than three people can make a crowd.
Divide your time so you can touch on all your courses' materials. Plan out chunks of time for specific courses using your calendar or planner.
Make a playlist of light music. Classical is great, since there are not words.
Take Breaks
Take mini breaks in between studying. Study in increments of 20-30 minutes at a time, especially if you have difficulty staying focused for long. Stretch your legs and walk around, do some yoga, or clean up your work space.
Fuel Your Brain
Support a stable energy supply with nutritious foods and study snacks. Combine complex carbs, healthy fats, and protein for snacks.
Examples:
Graham crackers, peanut butter, and fruit
Turkey jerky/sausage sticks and whole wheat crackers
Hummus, veggies, and whole wheat crackers
Yogurt, granola, and fruit, nuts, or dark chocolate for those omega-3s!
Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated boosts energy and helps maintain focus. If plain water is too boring, add fresh fruits and herbs like cucumber, lemon, mint, or basil.
Get Enough Sleep
This may be the most important thing to remember, because lack of sleep will affect your recollection and concentration. Avoid caffeine in the later hours of the day. Try a bedtime meditation; there are 10 minute guided ones on Youtube!
GOOD LUCK RD2BE!
